advice, opinions, red flags and more

Over the past few years, I've found that there aren't easy-to-find resources to help people make informed decisions about choosing and working with a graphic designer or web developer. I've meant to post this type of info for quite some time but the old site's format didn't lend itself to this type of content.

Recently, I'd spoken to potential clients who's previous developer had registered their clients' domain names and hosting in their own name, and I doubt the client knew what the ramifications of this would be. I've seen patterns where a lazy developer misspells simple words in correspondence -- or had used outdated or poorly-written code on their own site -- and when your profession is mainly about correctly entering text or selling yourself as up-to-date on current practices and standards, this too can be a red flag.

As I cross a few more items off the new smartpill design site's "to-do" list I hope to post some info that will hopefully benefit others and serve as a pseudo FAQ section.
