Commonly Overlooked Details from Designers

A quick list that I'll add on to as the need arises…

Getting your color right

When I was transitioning to designing and developing for the web from designing and prepping files for print, one of the issues that took a little while to wrap my head around was color. Things that were created in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator did not look the same when viewed on a web site. The reason for this is Photoshop is usally set to preview the files for print which tends to make the colors darker with more contrast. Browsers—for the most part—ignore color profiles (the color profiles are meant to resemble how the ink would look on paper, not how pixels look in a web browser).

In order to get as accurate as you can, preview the file as Monitor RGB (View : Proof Setup : Monitor RGB) and make sure Proof Colors is checked.
